An Afternoon at Trump International Hotel DC
It was a beautiful September day to walk the city of Washington! The 2016 election hasn't yet occurred, but the race is in its final heat. Candidate Donald Trump’s new acquisition—The Old Post Office, located at 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue NW not far from the White House—was having its “soft opening.” It has just undergone the major part of its $200 million remodel. A friend and I had toured the building before, which dates back to 1899, and decided to stop in for lunch.
We, along with a lot of other picture-takers, had taken the time to get a meal in the beautiful new lounge area. The menu sounded delicious! The only problem was that our Steak and Frites never showed up. Finally a member of the staff came over to check on us. We were soon presented with gratis hor d’oeuvres, with apologies. Then came our lunch, with more apologies—and no check. Our meal was being “comped” by The Donald!
Let’s face it, there just aren’t that many of us who get a meal paid for by the man who may become the next President of the United States. I think Ben Franklin, America’s first postmaster whose 1889 marble statue stands just outside, would have enjoyed the entire experience!
