Election Day 2020
The precinct I served at had just over 1,000 ballots cast. Many of the poll workers were surprised, thinking we would have many more people through. We did have a lot of drive through voters, as well as drop off boxes that were used.
It was an enjoyable day. Everyone was working toward a common purpose, and many of them had worked in prior elections. It is an experience that anyone who can should do at least once. Nevertheless, it was a long day! We had arrived before 5 a.m. in order to get everything set up and stayed until 10:30 p.m. to break everything down and record votes.
As we knew would occur, the election results are unknown. Stay tuned, America.
Discussion Topic: Do you know anyone who has served at the election polling places? What was their experience like, and what motivated them to do so? To find out your local information and requirements, contact your election headquarters or county government office. They can also tell you the exact procedures for your own eventual voter registration!
