Tea at The Willard

The Willard Lobby

My birthday is in December, and a friend took me to The Willard to celebrate with a special Tea. What is The Willard, you might ask? It is only one of the best stays in Washington! It is a stunning hotel with a fabulous restaurant, and a formal Tea to rival any of the best around. Forget the crumpets—help yourself to a tiny pastry! Or a tiny chocolate. Or a tiny sandwich. Take a tiny anything, but enjoy the tea and enjoy the ambience!

The Willard is beautiful in any season, but when it is decorated for the Christmas holidays, it can put almost anyone in a holiday mood. Friends and I have enjoyed both carolers and a harpist during Christmastime. It is truly a treasure to visit. If you can’t stay, do make a point to simply walk through its lobby. You are welcome to go through the little shops, too. They are just off the side of the main hallway where tea is served at linen-skirted tables. If I'm lucky, I might just be there again next year. Such pauses during the holiday season never get old!
