Brian Kilmeade’s Book Signing:   Andrew Jackson and The Miracle of New Orleans: The Battle That

I like to tune in to Fox and Friends in the mornings, even if I just hear snippets of it as I’m getting ready for my day. Brian Kilmeade, one of the three regulars along with Ainsley Earhart and Steve Doocy, helps get the day’s humor going—a laudable attribute when the daily news they report indicates a world that seems to be on fire some days.

When I heard that Brian was coming to the Barnes & Noble at Tyson’s Corner in McLean, Virginia for a book signing again, I planned to be there. Apparently, a lot of others did, too. All ages attended. Brian talked and answered questions for over a half hour, then signed books and chatted with people for another 2 ½ hours or so. People were purchasing his other books, as I did: Thomas Jefferson and The Tripoli Pirates: The Forgotten War That Changed American History and George Washington's Secret Six: The Spy Ring That Saved The American Revolution.

Brian updated us all on various Fox happenings and current news items. He also updated us about his family's dogs. Apparently one had just thrown up on their sofa that morning. And one has had a problem with weak knees. Fortunately, he has been in water therapy and, thank heavens, is improving nicely. So, one of my signing photos is the nice, typical shot of two smiling people who don’t know each other while the author strategically holds his new book. Then I happened to make a remark about his dog. It struck us funny, and we both got laughing, and the camera caught it. All in all, it was just another day in the life of an author and a fan--but one which I’m sure held the promise of us becoming best buds, if only time had permitted.
