Happy New Year, everyone! And here is a great to-do for 2018!

Since its opening this past November 17th, MOTB is one of the hottest museums to visit in town. The museum is 430,000 square feet and is dedicated to global education about the Bible and its impact on the world. The exhibits aren’t limited to just ancient Biblical artifacts. Exhibits also showcase examples of the effects on contemporary language, science and fashion. One of my favorite statues included in this area was that of George Washington Carver. There is an area specifically designed for children, hands-on exhibits that teens will love, and an abundance of art and technology that makes the Bible come to life for all.

Some of the exhibits are long-term; others are temporary. One special exhibit is the history and impact of the hymn Amazing Grace. Its author John Newton, once a slave trader in Britain, writes of his personal redemptive hope found in the Bible, regardless of his past activities. MOTB has included numerous albums of singers who have since recorded the hymn. Newton could hardly have imagined the impact his few verses would have on the world! As part of MOTB’s kick-off, Amazing Grace - The Musical began its national tour in its 5th floor World Stage Theater.

An MOTB staff member recently told me that people have been coming from across the country to visit the museum, and it was crowded the day I visited. Admission is free, though you are invited to make a donation. You can also become an MOTB member. That provides special discounts and benefits.

To plan a visit, visit www.museumofthebible.org . Look for the small dropdown menu button on the upper left to navigate through the website. And during your visit, be sure to get a photo in front of the beautiful Tiffany window donated by Mark Burnett and his wife Roma Downey, who played the angel Monica in television’s Touched By An Angel.

More info to com regarding the many exhibits and features!
