The Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum

I often think that it’s amazing how we often fail to visit the interesting sites and attractions that are closest to us. Instead, we hop in the car or on a plane to visit other states’ treasures, while their folks travel great distances to visit ours! This spring, I decided to make more of an effort to see what’s right here in my own backyard.
Since one of my interests the past couple of years has been to visit the Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum, I finally decided to actually do it. It always gets a lot of good press, and children and adults alike enjoy seeing the butterflies which come from butterfly farms from around the globe. (Who knew there were butterfly farms?) They, by now, are so accustomed to humans that they will alight on your clothing and on your fingers. The guides are great and glad to answer all your questions.
When you and your family are in D.C., this is a truly fun place to visit. There is an entrance fee of $6.50-$7.50 for children and adults respectively, but worth it. Tuesdays, however, are free, so that might be a great time for any family who can go during the week. I think you will enjoy it!
