Fourth of July at Nats Stadium

There are few things more fun to do in Washington on July 4th than attend a Nationals game at the ballpark! Today, Nats Stadium hosted the Nationals and the Boston Red Sox. There were tons of Red Sox fans who attended, and it was fun to see both locals and tourists out to enjoy the game.

The cast from Hamilton, currently playing at the Kennedy Center, opened by singing the national anthem. And, despite the extreme heat, even Senator Bob Dole and his wife Elizabeth attended. She handed the ball off for the first pitch, and the game was on!

Living in Washington means that you never know who you might run into. So it was not a huge surprise when I happened to see Juan Williams and his wife Delise at one of the food venues. Juan is co-host of The Five on the Fox News Channel, and he was as nice in person as he seems on television. It was a real pleasure to chat with both of them for a minute or two.

By the end, the Nats had unfortunately lost 3-0, but that didn't prevent us from having a great time anyway! Being at the game and meeting the Williamses--along with brunch at the Blue Jacket near the Navy Yard and seeing the fireworks display at the end of the night--rounded out a truly great day. I hope yours was, as well!
