Important Promises Kept

President Trump spoke today to a sizable crowd in Panama City, Florida. He highlighted several achievements during his administration thus far. I thought we’d take a look at seven here that may include one or more that is important to your family. Note that the first three are directly related to our U.S. Constitution:
Earlier this year, the president signed an Executive Order that defended free speech on college campuses. (This is much needed, as I personally spearheaded a months-long legislative effort that protected free speech on Missouri’s public college and university campuses!)
The 100th federal judge has just been confirmed – one more judicial vacancy filled with someone expected to interpret law according to the Constitution (rather than by an “activist” judge who decides a case according to personal political views.)
Two conservative pro-Constitution justices (Neil Gorsuch and Bret Kavanaugh) were appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Bipartisan (supported by both Democrats and Republicans) criminal justice reform was passed.
The Veteran’s Choice Program was passed, making it much easier for war veterans to obtain timely healthcare and do so closer to home.
The U.S. has now become the #1 exporter of natural gas and oil in the world. We are no longer dependent on other countries to provide, or possibly restrict, our basic energy needs to run our homes, transportation systems, businesses, etc.
America recognized Israel’s capital and opened our U.S. embassy in Jerusalem. That was something several presidents had promised, but never delivered.
Two of the seven accomplishments listed above were particularly significant for voters during the presidential campaign: the conservative appointments to the U.S. Supreme Court and throughout the judicial system and, second, U.S. support for Israel.
One thing is obvious when you review the extensive full list of achievements under this president: President Trump is regularly checking off promises made to the American people during his campaign. And that is an important measurement for any supporter of a candidate.
What does your family feel are important accomplishments – or, what do they think are goals that still need to be addressed by the White House? Why not discuss it with them and come up with your own list? It is a timely discussion for your Government and Current Events classes!
