The Maine State House and Maine Cabin Masters

Maine’s capital is Augusta. It is a pretty town, and its State House, like most, is striking. During my tour, one of the staff asked if I was familiar with DIY network’s television show Maine Cabin Masters (MCM). Of course I said yes!

She introduced me to her colleague Paula Thomas. Paula is Senior Administrative Assistant in the House Democratic Office. She also happens to be MCM’s Ryan Eldridge’s mom. She couldn’t have been nicer or more welcoming. In addition to my tour, it was also fun to hear a bit about the show and the cast members’ long-time friendship that has helped make the show so popular.

Paula’s colleague was also kind enough to suggest letting me stand behind the House of Representatives’ podium to gavel in imaginary bills to imaginary state reps. I did it with gusto. Now, if it was just that easy to pass good legislation!
