Election Day 2020

November 3rd, 2020 will be an Election Day unlike any we have known in America. Concerns have been swirling from the citizenry all the way to the White House about the “new normal” surrounding the methods of voting this year. Of specific concern are the unknowns related to the anticipated receipt of massive numbers of mail in ballots across the nation.

To date, voting in person has been the norm. People arrive at the polling stations on Election Day and provide proof of citizenship, proof of having registered to vote and their place of residence. Citizens sign in and cast their ballot in secret for the races occurring that year – local, state and federal. By the end of the night, all of America knows who the winners are.

This year, we know that we will not know who the winner is that evening. In fact, we have already been told that it my take weeks due to the unprecedented number of incoming ballots to be counted. Despite the COVID pandemic, few people think this is a good way to run a country’s election. Time will surely tell.

What are your thoughts?
